illustraStock Commision Program

“A royalty is a payment made by one party (the “licensee”) to another that owns a particular asset (the “licensor”) for the right to ongoing use of that asset.”

How much will I be paid as a Collaborator to illustraStock?

For your earnings, you will be credited every time one of your published illustrations is downloaded by a illustraStock user. How much you earn each month depends on the license that was used for each download, the number of downloads, how many illustrations the user downloads, how many illustrations we offer and how many illustrations you published.

How do we calculate the commission?

Explanation of the terms that are used for obtaining the percentage per illustration:

  1. Single Purchases: Each time someone purchases one Individual Contribution of the Collective Work or one Bundle from one Collection or Subcollection. So we add up all the purchase fees and we divide it by all the Individual Contributions that got Published in the Collection or SubCollection, including Yours.
  2. Enhanced License: Each time someone purchases one Enhanced License from one Collection or Subcollection. So we add up all the purchase fees and we divide it by all the Individual Contributions that got Published in the Collection or SubCollection, including Yours.
  3. Subscriptions: Subscribers get unlimited access to all of our Individual Contributions from one Collection, including Yours. So we add up all the subscription fees and divide it by all the Individual Contributions that got Published, including Yours.
  4. API Usage: We divide the entire month’s API fees by the total number of Individual Contributions.

These calculations result in a percentage by illustration. The number will change every month, but we always give 20% of it back to the Collaborators. Your illustrations can get a bonus of up to more than the double of the ‘basic’ percentage. This will depend on a series of factors that we will be dealing with in more detail below.

The commissions will differ for each collections or subcollections.  For more information, please read the commission index.

General information

illustraStock shall round the monthly cumulative earnings to the nearest € 0.01.

When someone licenses your content, you earn your royalty based on the net value of the image.

Your royalty rate can reach up to 42,5%.

We understand that refunds, cancellations and fraudulent downloads can be reversed at any time. We shall take all efforts to take these into account. However, once we have tabulated a collaborator’s level for the month, it would stay stagnant for the month.

The commissions are based on the ratio:
Net Sales of a Collection / Number of illustrations of a Collection.

To learn more about the manner in which the illustrations you offer will be used by the licences of illustraStock, please download our Manual of Content Protection.

Example of Royalties for a Collaborator

Imagine an example where the sales make € 10,000 with a collection of 2,000 illustrations while you published 25 of them.

Commission for a collaborator with level I.

This initial rate of 20% will be the minimum the contributor receives throughout the year. However, a contributor’s royalty rate increases immediately if their Published Illustration total reaches a new level.

So we add up all the download fees and divide it by all the illustrations that were Published through a Collection, including yours:
20% of € 10,000 download fees = 2,000/ 2,000 illustrations = € 1 per illustration.

If you Published 25 illustrations:
€ 1 x 25 = € 25.

If you have a bonus you can reach a new commision

If you accomplish the Gold bonus, you will increase up to 5% of the initial rate of 20% (20%+5%=25%):
25% of € 10,000 download fees = 2,500/ 2,000 illustrations = € 1.25 per illustration.

A rate of € 1.25 for the published illustration.

If you Published 25 illustrations = € 1.25 x 25 = € 31.25.

All that crazy math gives us a commision of 31.25 €.

If, however, you were the one to create the most illustrations in a Collection or Subcollection, the second Bonus shall be granted to you.
